Shefali Shah expresses gratitude as Three of Us emerges as the OTT triumph

Just two days before the year 2023 ended, Netflix dropped the film Three of Us on their streaming platform. A few people who watched the film upon its theatrical release couldn't stop praising it. The film features prolific actors, namely Shefali Shah, Swanand Kirkire, and Jaideep Ahlawat, in the lead roles. Now, as the film has completed nearly a week of its run on Netflix, Shefali has penned a heartfelt note thanking everyone who watched for showering the film with love.

Shefali Shah's gratitude

The actor started by writing, "Thank you for all the love all of you (well, most of you) are showering on ‘THREE OF US'. It’s humbling and overwhelming."

Cinephiles who have been watching the film have been sharing their thoughts and favourite moments that stayed with them. Moreover, Shefali also shared a lot of them on her Instagram story. Regarding the same, she stated, "The interpretations you’ll have of the minutest nuance, registering a look, a line, a gesture, or a scene. It shows how deeply the film has affected you."

From box office struggle to OTT success

Although 2023 was a great year for Hindi cinema, many are now touting that Three of Us was the best of the lot. Expressing her gratitude upon hearing these words, Shefali went on to say, "This film was released in theatres, and it didn’t do well at all. But on OTT, even though it was released on the 2nd last day of 2023, a lot of you are touting it as the best film of 2023, and that’s a proof of what came from our hearts and has touched yours. We created something in complete honesty, giving it our all and baring ourselves, which brought to the surface your thoughts, feelings, and unhindered truth. Proving the strength of the connection between us and all of you even through a screen. And it just reinstates our faith in what we do rather than who we become, because you all believe it too. And we can’t begin to thank you enough for it."

Film overview

Three of Us is directed by Avinash Arun and was released on the big screen in November 2023. For the uninitiated, the soulful film shows that as Shailaja (Shefali) struggles with the first signs of dementia, she is caught between her past, present, and future. Before her recollections of her youth begin to disappear, she plans to go on a journey back in time.

The 98-minute-long film also features Kadambari Kadam and Neena Kulkarni in pivotal roles.
