Actress Shefali Shah, who is known for her acting skills in projects like Delhi Crime, Human, Jalsa, and Darlings, recently aired her opinion on the constant scrutiny that Bollywood is under as a film industry.

In a recent video interview with ANI, the news agency, the actress was asked about her thoughts on the several controversies that films have been facing, such as Pathaan's Besharam Rang song controversy. Things have become so bad that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a directive in January to his BJP party members not to make "unnecessary remarks" on the film industry.

While many are of the opinion that course correction is needed and everything has to be politically correct, others feel that we are living in a time when everything comes under strict scrutiny.

Reacting to this. Shefali said, "Yes, everything we do comes under scrutiny, and course correction is needed, but we live in a democratic country. Everyone has a right to express themselves. If cinema is taking from or giving back to society, then yes, there will be certain things in any form of art that you may not agree with. What you like, I may not like, and that could be a book, a painting, or any other form of art. But that does not make that piece of art terrible."

She further said that in such a situation, she would rather not watch a film because she does not like it, but that film has the right to exist.

Shefali then added, "I also think that we cannot scrutinise and fight about everything. You've got to pick your battles. Then the importance or seriousness of actually raising a voice goes down the drain."

On the work front, the actress was last seen in the 2022 film Doctor G.
