Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga producers have unveiled its first song, as well as the first song by KK since he died in Kolkata last week. The song is titled Dhoop Paani Bahne De and was penned by Gulzar and composed by Shantanu Moitra.

In the video for the song, Pankaj is shown travelling through the wilderness. Neeraj Kabi and Sayani Gupta also appear in the video. Pankaj and Neeraj are seen eating dinner in the woods. According to KK's line, "Inn har ek pedho ki, daaliyaan kat gayi. Kuch pooja mein, kuch shaadiyon mein jal gayi, kat gayi."

Gulzar said regarding KK that Srijit had done me a favour in Sherdil. Not only did he get to write for such a wonderful film, but he also got to see KK for the first time in a long time. In Maachis, KK was the first to sing a song of Gulzar's, Chhor aye hum woh galiya. It filled his heart with excitement when he came to sing the song for Sherdil, but it's terrible that it had to be one of KK's final songs. It's as if he'd come to say his goodbyes.

While Shantanu added that KK sang this song like it was his own, he told the composer that this song had reunited him with Gulzar sahib after two decades apart. KK was also ecstatic that he would perform this song live, because it is about conservation and the youth should hear it.

Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga is directed by Srijit Mukherji and stars Pankaj Tripathi, Neeraj Kabi, and Sayani Gupta. The film is based on true events and explores the negative repercussions of modernity as well as man-animal conflict.

KK died on May 31 in Kolkata after playing at a concert. He gave a performance at a Gurudas College concert at Nazrul Mancha, south Kolkata. The singer was "feeling heavy" when he arrived at his hotel after the performance, according to officials, and immediately fainted. Doctors ruled him dead upon arrival at the hospital while he was being transported. KK, who was born into a South Indian family in the nation's capital, began his career by singing advertising jingles before going on to record songs for other films.

Gulshan Kumar, T-Series Film, and Reliance Entertainment present Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga, which is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Reliance Entertainment and produced by Match Cut Productions Private Limited. On June 24, it will be released in theaters.
