Sheshippu on OTT: Here's why you should not miss Meenakshi Jayan-Rashid Rahman's film online

Unsettling narrative that deals with trauma

Living in a distant, hillside house owned by a friend, Pavi, a ghostwriter, is trying to put together a new book with his name. On the way to this place, he encounters Anju, an abused woman, who utterly turns his life upside down. An unusual bond develops as these two battered individuals come together to try to figure out how to cover up one of her acts which involves the burial of a dead body. The movie's primary focus is on how what they do gives them comfort and resilience during these unsettling times. 

Makers' intriguing style of storytelling

Sreejith S Kumar and Gritto Vincent's film, which explores issues of trauma, women safety and the need for comfort, is incredibly distressing due to its realistic aspects. Although there isn't much dialogues, the filmmakers disclose a great deal of the emotional challenges these characters are going through with a simple narrative. Examples of how the directors have kept things as straightforward as possible include the film's one-hour and twenty-five-minute duration, the absence of many subplots and telling the story through just three characters.

Haunting performances

Sheshippu relies heavily on Meenakshi's portrayal of Anju, who endured a incident of physical abuse on her way home from work. Anju does not see what happened as the end of her life and wants to continue pursuing her aim of protecting her parents as well as giving them a better life. However, underlying trauma makes it hard for her and Meenakshi's depiction of all these emotions is unsettling. Rashid Rahman and Rajan Pootharakkal also perform well in this film.
