Shilpa under ED heat

Shilpa and Raj have come under the ED scanner and are charged under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, over allegations that Raj collected big funds from Bitcoins (Rs. 6,600 in 2007) with a fake promise of 10 percent return to the ‘gullible public.’ The investigations began after there were multiple FIRs against the couple by both Maharashtra Police as well as Delhi Police. ED further revealed that Raj had received 285 Bitcoins from Amit Bhardwaj, who is involved in the Gain Bitcoin Ponzi Scam. The deal was to set up a Bitcoin mining farm in Ukraine but it did not materialize and thus, Raj is still in possession of the Bitcoins which he collected from the public with a promise to return it with 10 percent profit. The very Bitcoins are currently valued at Rs. 150 crores. While Amit is still in judicial custody, Ajay Bhardwaj and Mahendra Bhardwaj remain absconding.
