Music sensation, singer Shirley Setia, who spent a major part of her life in New Zealand, donned the grease paint for the first time in her career with the Netflix release Maska and caught many eyeballs with her sensitive, charming performance. Maska eventually lead her to Telugu cinema, where she's making her feature film debut with Naga Shaurya for a film titled Krishna Vrinda Vihari. Ahead of the film's release on April 22, the actress spoke about acting in her first Telugu film at its teaser launch in Hyderabad recently.
"I am extremely nervous today. Please pardon me if I go wrong anywhere. This is my first Telugu film and I am very happy to be a part of this project. I've dubbed for myself in the film. It was tough but I think the team made the job easy for me. I have had an amazing time being a part of this project. The producer, Usha ma'am, the director Anish sir, made me feel at home. My parents live in New Zealand but I never felt like I was away from my family. They've made me feel so comfortable and have cared for me and I'll be thankful to everyone," she said.
Thanking her co-star, director and cinematographer, Shirley further added, "Anish (garu) and Sai Sriram (sir) were very patient with me and my mistakes. I have a lot of Telugu dialogues in the film. Yet, I have to say I had a fantastic time shooting for it and working with Shaurya. Mahati Swara Sagar's music is one of the film's assets. You've only watched a few glimpses of his work in the teaser but the songs will blow you away when they release. I hope you like the teaser." Shirley Setia is also awaiting her Hindi film debut Nikamma this year, where she shares screen space with Abhimanyu Dassani.
Directed by Anish R Krishna, Krishna Vrinda Vihari is produced by Usha Mulpuri under Ira Creations. Shankar Prasad is the presenter. Radhika Sarathkumar, Vennela Kishore, Rahul Ramakrishna, Satya, Brahmaji essay important roles too.
