Multiple National Award-winning actor Anupam Kher, who is the male protagonist of Shiv Shastri Balboa, shared a meal with the dabbawalas of Mumbai on Monday, while revealing the second poster of the film.
Speaking on the occasion in the presence of the media, Anupam said, "This film is very special to us, so the team of Shiv Shastri Balboa decided to celebrate it with the special people of Mumbai—the dabbawalas. They have been delivering food door-to-door and to offices with such efficiency that we felt it is our time to show them respect for their hard work. They are feeding the working class of Mumbai. They are the mai-baap of food delivery. Today, we are lucky to share a meal with them."
Following the media interaction, the actor, along with his co-stars Neena Gupta, Sharib Hashmi and Nargis Fakri, served food to the dabbawalas who were present at the occasion. The actors of the film took a moment to appreciate their work while revealing the new poster of the film.
Dabbawalas became a part of the daily life of Mumbai in 1890, when thousands of migrant workers came to the city from different parts of the country. Since there was no fast-food culture back in the day, the workers relied on homecooked meals. Dabbawalas collect food from people's homes and deliver it to offices so that no worker goes hungry during the day. The dabbawala community has been working relentlessly and has kept the age-old tradition alive even today.
Shiv Shastri Balboa is written and directed by Ajayan Venugopalan, and produced by Kishore Varieth. It also stars Jugal Hansraj, Anil Joseph and Alison Corriere, among others, and releases in theatres on February 10.
