Actor Sharib Hashmi, who is known for his versatility as a performer, says that he is quite excited to play a Punjabi character for the first time in his upcoming film Shiv Shastri Balboa, helmed by Ajayan Venugopalan.

Speaking about his character in the film at the trailer launch recently, the actor said, “This is a character that I have really never played before. He is a funny guy, yet there are some very interesting elements to his character. His name is Cinnamon Singh! He is running a petrol pump, and also struggling to become a musician, and then something happens!”

In the film, Sharib is paired with Rockstar fame Nargis Fakhri. The actor revealed that initially, he was in disbelief that he would be working with Nargis. “When our director, Ajayan bhai, told me that they are in talks with Nargis, I was like, ‘Really!? Are you sure we are working together?’ But eventually, when we met her on set, I was so excited to work with her. It was an amazing experience. It was also my dream to work with Anupam sir and Neena ma’am, and through this film, I fulfilled that wish too!," Sharib added.

In the trailer, Cinnamon is flaunting his blue hair. “I think this is the first time in my career that a whole team has worked on the look of my character. We actually tried different colours - green, red and brown - but none of those colours worked. Finally, when we tried blue, it was looking quirky and I liked it too! That’s the hair story of my character (laughed),” he elaborated

Produced by Kishore Varieth, the film will hit the theatres on February 10.
