For quite a while now, filmmaker Akash Srivatsa’s social media timeline has been either about his twin daughters Shakti and Shanvi or his latest directorial venture, the second instalment in the Shivaji Surathkal series with Ramesh Aravind, which is getting ready. When he then put a childhood picture this morning, many thought that it was perhaps a belated Children’s Day post. Turns out, Akash was bereaved yesterday. Akash lost his mother and took to social media to let friends and family know of this personal tragedy.
“My Amma left the child in me and Departed Yesterday.. My life will never be the same without you … You have been my best teacher and all the lessons you thought me , I will never forget … The question of How do I stay without you , You gave me an answer to that and left me … You said “ Do whats needed next” .. Amma Wherever You are now .. Stay Happy … Sleep Peacefully Amma .. Om Shanti,” he wrote, accompanied with a childhood picture of him with his mother. Her passing came, unfortunately, on Children’s Day. The filmmaker’s friends from the industry have been sending him condolence messages on social media.
On the work front, Akash has been busy with the post-production work of Shivaji Surathkal 2, which has the tagline, ‘The Mysterious Case of Mayavi’. Only two weeks ago, he had posted that the team had successfully completed dubbing for the film. Shivaji Surathkal has Ramesh Aravind in the title role. The second instalment of the film also stars Radhika Narayan, Nasser, Meghana Gaonkar, Rakesh Maiya and Vinayak Joshi, among others. The film was started on the occasion of leading man Ramesh’s birthday last year in September. This time around, The Mysterious Case of Mayavi will be Case No. 103 for Shivaji.
The first Shivaji Surathkal film, Ranagiri Rahasya, had released in theatres in February 2020 and was doing well at the box office, when the pandemic struck and theatres closed down.
