Kannada star Shivarajkumar‘s most recent big screen outing lasted only a few minutes, but its impact was such that he is, today, one of the most talked about actors in neighbouring states. Namma Shivanna’s cameo as Narasimha in Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer has audiences everywhere whistling and hooting in recognition of the star power and charisma he brings to the scene. In a recent conversation with the music wing of production house Sun Pictures, Shivanna was asked if he expected his cameo to be so widely accepted, to which he said that he knew it would be impactful, but that the level of celebration it sparked was unexpected.

While working with Rajinikanth was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, Shivanna added that he has a friendly relation with most Tamil actors, including Vijay, Ajith, Suriya, Karthi and, of course, his Captain Miller co-star Dhanush . Each of them, he says, has a unique working style and inspiring growth trajectory. As for Dhanush, Shivanna said that the Tamil star is like a boy-next-door. “My admiration for Dhanush did not begin recently; I’ve liked him right from the start of his career. I see Bruce Lee in him and I see myself in him. I relate to him quite well, and when he called me for Captain Miller , I could not say no,” said the actor, adding that he watches all of Dhanush’s films on the first day itself.

This habit of catching early shows of Tamil shows is not limited to the fw top stars, though, said Shivanna, listing names like Sivakarthikeyan, Goundamani Senthil, late Vivek and Yogi Babu, among others. “I watch all films, no matter if it is big or small. That’s probably because I know Tamil well, on account of having been born in Chennai and that I spent my early childhood here,” he added.
