After what seemed like an eternity of waiting in the wings in the hope of getting to work with Rocking Star Yash, director Narthan finally moved on and kickstarted another project. He collaborated with Century Star Shivarajkumar for the actor’s second home production after Vedha, a film called Bhairathi Ranagal, which follows the actor’s character from the earlier Mufti.

In that film, Bhairathi Ranagal was a feared crime boss, who was a saviour of sorts for the people of a certain village. An undercover cop, played by Sriimurali, is sent to infiltrate Ranagal’s syndicate, gather enough intel about him and then bring him in. The film Bhairathi Ranagal will serve as a prequel and sequel to the events of Mufti, exploring how he came to be a crime lord, as well as his time in prison and thereafter. The film is currently in production and from what we hear, Shivarajkumar has a tentative release plan in mind for the film. “We are targeting an August release,” the Hattrick Hero told a Kannada digital channel on the sidelines of his practice session for the upcoming Kannada Chalanachitra Cup tournament (KCC).

Back in early October, during the promotions of Ghost, Shivarajkumar had said that he had about 60 days shoot pending for Bhairathi Ranagal. The film also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Rahul Bose, Vasishta N Simha, among others. In earlier conversations with the media, the Century Star had said that closer to the release of Bhairathi Ranagal, he will bring Mufti to theatres again, to refresh people’s memory of what had unfolded.

As for KCC, Shivarajkumar is the star face of his team, and remain a non-playing member. Yet, he has been joining the other team members during their practice sessions and says that he is looking forward to playing the matches in the most competitive yet sportive spirit, with the goal being to have fun and maybe even win in the process.
