Kannada star Shivarajkumar barely had anything to do in Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer, but his was one of the most effective cameos in the film, one that fetched him a new legion of fans across several states. As Narasimha, one of Muthuvel Pandian’s close associates, the Century Star showed audiences the impact a slo-mo entry clad in dhothi can have, while his eyes had the fire power of a gazillion guns. That’s how well received Narasimha was in Jailer.
So, when Jailer 2 was officially announced, netizens were hopeful that Shivarajkumar would be a part of the sequel too, but given that he was, at the time, recuperating after surgery to remove and replace a cancerous bladder, it was not clear when he would be able to resume work. Shivarajkumar, who has been resting since his return from the US, is expected to head back to film sets in March.
It is now being heard that the actor will, most definitely, be a part of Jailer 2. While Shivarajkumar has only a few days’ worth of work for his 10-minute cameo in Jailer, this time around, he’s said to have allotted 15 days, implying that Narasimha will have a much bigger and more important role in Jailer 2. Shivarajkumar is yet to confirm this, but given how eager and willing he was to do even a cameo in a Rajinikanth film, it would not be surprising if he is in Jailer 2 as well.
In Kannada, meanwhile, the actor’s next big release is music composer Arjun Janya’s directorial debut, 45, which also stars Upendra and Raj B Shetty. The film has locked August 15 for its theatrical outing. He also has cameo roles in his daughter Niveditha’s production venture Fireflies, as well as his wife Geetha’s next, A for Anand, directed by MG Srinivas. This is the Kannada adaptation of the hit Japanese book Totto Chan: The Girl At the Window.
