Century Star Shivarajkumar has been shooting for his next, the Vijay Milton directorial Bairagee, which they have now completed. On Thursday, Vijay, for whom Bairagee is his debut in Kannada cinema, took to social media to post a short video of the entire team and announce that they’d wrapped up shooting. The post, which included a special shout out to music composer Anoop Seelin, read, “With the blessings of parents friends and almighty completed #bairagee wonderful xperience and amazing memories from @NimmaShivanna @Krishnasarthaka @Dhananjayaka @AmbarPruthvi @YashaShivakumar tnq #anoopseelin sir the sole reason for this film.”

A few days ago, it was reported that the team was all done, but for the hero’s introduction song, for which a massive set was being erected in Bengaluru. They had also canned a song featuring the film’s principal cast, including Shivarajkumar, Dhananjaya, Pruthvi Ambaar, Chikkanna, Yasha Shivakumar and Anjali, along with several back-up dancers. This special number, choreographed by Murali master, was to be sung by Shivarajkumar and the Puneeth Rajkumar, but the latter’s passing meant that the makers are now forced to find a suitable voice. The song, incidentally, was shot as a single take, and required the cast to rehearse for a few days before going for the actual shoot.

Bairagee, produced by Krishna Sarthak, is Shivarajkumar’s 123rd film and reunites him with Tagaru co-star Dhananjaya. The films also marks Anjali’s return to Kannada cinema, having last done the late Puneeth’s film, Ranavikrama in 2015. The film is the Kannada remake of the Tamil film Asuran, although the team claims that close to 50% of the narrative has been changed to suit the sensibilities of audiences here.
