In the last few days, there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the theatrical release of Century Star Shivarajkumar’s milestone 125th, Vedha, in Telugu, as Shiva Vedha. The Kannada version of the A Harsha directorial had released for Christmas last year and now, the team is prepping to have a major pre-release event in Hyderabad before the Telugu version comes to theatres on February 9. Strangely enough, February 10 is when the film is dropping on OTT in all the languages it has been dubbed in, including Telugu, which has netizens wondering why it is being pushed to theatres after all.

“I don't understand what #Vedha team is upto. Film will be out on OTT next week, but have planned simultaneous theatrical release in Telugu states,” wrote one user. Another added, “Whats Wrong with #Vedha and #Zee5 team #Vedha Telugu Version Release on February 9 in Theatres. #VedhaTelugu Version Release in Zee5 OTT Platform. We Are Request you to Postpone.” Yet another chipped in, “ Zee studios messed up with the simultaneous release plan, they promised it but failed.” While a fourth explained, “#Vedha was ready in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu but Kannada and Tamil release madidare at a time. Telugu dub before release sale Aggide for huge amount, Vedha team agreement alli promotion ge vedha team irutte antha sign Aggide. Hindi Dub rights sale Aggide but team dub madila.”

The general consensus was that since all the dubbed versions were ready, the team should have opted for a simultaneous release, or at least spaced it by a few weeks instead of now having the OTT outing and the Telugu version coming out almost at the same time.

Vedha is Shivarajkumar’s fourth collaboration with director A Harsha and his first home production. The period film set in the 60s also had Ganavi Laxman, Aditii Sagar, Shwetha Changappa, Umashree, among others, in pivotal roles.
