A day after the title card scene from Ajith's Thunivu leaked even before its release today (January 11), we now hear that the entire film has leaked online. And it's not only Thunivu that has fallen victim to piracy. Vijay's Varisu, which released today has also leaked online much to the chagrin of fans. Yesterday, when the title card of Ajith from Thunivu leaked, Ajith fans had requested not to leak any portion or scene online. However, the news of the entire film leaking has not gone down well with the fans.

The makers of both the films had earlier appealed to the Madras High Court to ban illegal sites from leaking the film online and releasing pirated version of the film. Paying heed to the request, the court had called for ban on many piracy websites. But despite all the action and precautions, the news of pirated versions had dampened the spirits of fans. Both films have been made on a budget of more than 200 crores and have opened to positive reviews from the audience. Fans of both the actors gathered in large numbers for the FDFS of both films (Thunivu at 1am and Varisu at 4pm).

While Thunivu is a heist thriller directed by H Vinoth, Varisu is a family drama cum action entertainer helmed by Vamshi Paidipally. The films of Ajith and Vijay (the biggest onscreen rivals on Tamil cinema) are clashing after 8 long years. The last time both actors had release on the same date was in 2014, when Ajith's Veeram and Vijay's Jilla hit screens.

Varisu is bankrolled by Dil Raju and the Telugu version of the film (Varasudu) is all set to release on January 14, while the Hindi version will hit screens on January 13. On the other hand, Thunivu had simultaneous releases in Tamil and Telugu today and both verions have opened to packed theatres.
