Shah Rukh Khan is going to soon appear in the much-awaited Hindi film, Pathaan. Directed by Siddharth Anand, it brings the king back in action since 2018. For this movie, SRK didn’t even charge Rs. 50 crores.
That’s correct. Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly charged only Rs. 35-40 crores for the movie.
A trade expert told IndiaToday that King Khan has charged a mere sum as his fee for Pathaan for a special reason. The actor has agreed to a lower fee because he has a profit-sharing deal on the film.
Profit-sharing is not a new concept in Bollywood. Many actors including Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan charge a lesser fee so that they can later earn when the film does a profit at the Box Office. In some cases, they even pay the producers back if their movies do not work.
The same reports suggest that Pathaan is mounted on a budget of Rs. 250 crores. The film also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles.
While Pathaan is highly awaited for SRK and his fans, it is also special for the production house, YRF. It would be their first major release in the year, 2023.
The trade reports suggest that Pathaan is likely to see an opening between Rs. 34-40 crores. The buzz around the movie is obviously high and that is likely to contribute to the film becoming the first superhit Bollywood movie of 2023. In fact, there is a chance that Pathaan might beat Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year record and become his highest opening film of all time.
