Award-winning filmmaker Shoojit Sircar had directed Irrfan in his 2015 film Piku. After working with the late actor, now by a tryst with providence, he is collaborating with Irrfan’s son Babil Khan in his yet-to-be-titled movie, which will be backed by Ronnie and Sheel Kumar’s Rising Sun Films Production.
In a conversation with ETimes, executive producer Ronnie Lahiri called it a very emotional moment for them. However, he made it clear that Babil was cast for the film based on his auditions. Seeing similar sparks of Irrfan’s energy, Ronnie commented how acting is in Babil’s genes. He added that the formal announcement will be made in a month’s time.
Babil has dropped out of his BA Film course from the University of Westminster and decided to pursue acting full-time. He took to Instagram on Monday and posted a teary message thanking all his college friends for their support and care, as they made him belong in a strange cold place.
Bagging back-to-back projects, the young actor is on a roll now. He will be seen making his debut in Netflix film Qala, opposite Bulbbul fame Tripti Dimri and recently resumed its shooting. The film is directed by Anvitaa Dutt and produced by Anushka Sharma under her production banner Clean Slate Filmz. He keeps his followers updated about his schedule with regular posts from the sets of the upcoming movie.
