Shraddha Kapoor and Dia Mirza win PETA India's 2022 Vegan Fashion Awards

Shraddha Kapoor and Dia Mirza are among the few Bollywood actors who are vegan. Both of them have always been vocal about following a vegan lifestyle and have constantly expressed their love for animals, the environment and vegan fashion. Not just that, both have also been are lauded for their sense of style and for being beautiful, inside and out.

In view of this, PETA India has recognised the contribution of the two actors, and has given them awards at PETA India’s 2022 Vegan Fashion Awards. While Shraddha was awarded Best Vegan Fashion Style Icon, Dia received it for Best Vegan Kidswear Brand for Greendigo — the brand she backs that offers vegan, organic and chemical-free clothing for kids.

PETA India said that Shraddha was given the Best Vegan Fashion Style Icon for "her love for animals, the environment, and vegan fashion and for being stylish and beautiful, inside and out".

The awards are a result of PETA's findings that workers hit, kick and mutilate sheep for their wool during shearing; leave goats with bloody, gaping wounds at mohair and cashmere operations; slit the throats of cows and buffaloes for leather; ram metal rods down conscious crocodiles’ spines in the exotic skins industry; suffocate, electrocute, and bludgeon animals to death on fur farms; and boil silkworms alive to produce silk. 

PETA India found appaling animal cruelty after an investigation of Mumbai’s Deonar slaughterhouse. 

Turning animal skin into garments also requires massive amounts of energy and dangerous chemicals that damage the environment and harm human health. 

Shraddha Kapoor is all set to play a Kashmiri girl, Rukhsana Kausar KC, who killed a Lashkar-E-Taiba (LeT) militant. She will also be seen in Stree 2 and in a as-yet-untitled film with Ranbir Kapoor. Shraddha was last seen in a cameo in the song Thumkeshwari from the Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon-starrer Bhediya. 

Dia Mirza will next be seen in the road trip movie, Dhak Dhak, which also stars Ratna Pathak Shah, Sanjana Sanghi and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Taapsee Pannu is one of the producers of the movie.
