Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s movie Stree 2 was released in theatres recently and since then it has been on a box office record-breaking spree. Interestingly, the horror-comedy drama has now become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, after beating the numbers of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, Ranbir Kapoor's Animal, and Prabhas’ Kalki 2989 AD. The film has made a whopping Rs. 590 crore in the Hindi market, and Rs. 789 crore overseas. The new feat achieved by Stree 2 has left everyone stunned.
Today, the makers of Stree 2 took to social media and shared the monumental news with everyone. They announced that it has become the highest-grossing Hindi film. In their caption, they wrote, “Woh Stree hai aur usne kar dikhaya.” After the post was shared online, celebrities like Varun Dhawan, and Kriti Sanon gave a big shout-out to the cast and crew of Stree 2.
Kriti Sanon shared the post on her Instagram story and wrote, “This is incredible guys! So proud" and tagged the entire team. Varun Dhawan, on the other hand, shared the same post, and wrote, “Historic a new record for Indian cinema maazedar. @amarkaushik the sleepless nights, conviction and passion has all translated into this". He further congratulated the team. Jigar Sariya also shared the same post while announcing the big news from his end.
Stree 2, the sequel to the 2018 film, was eagerly awaited by Indian audiences. Apart from Shraddha and Rajkummar, the film also stars Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi in key roles. Currently, Stree 2 is running successfully in theatres and the makers are quite looking forward to achieving new box office records.
For the unversed, after the first film Stree’s (2018) success, Maddock Films decided to own their supernatural universe. The lineup of films includes Janhvi Kapoor's Roohi (2021), Varun and Kriti's Bhediya (2022), Sharvari and Abhay Verma’s Mujhya (2024), and now the sequel Stree 2. They are now gearing up for three more movies in the universe - Bhediya 2, Munjya 2, and Stree 3, Ayushman Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna's vampire film, Thamba.
