You get more comfortable with a character the more time you spend with him or her. In some ways, that is true for Shriya Saran, who returns to the big screen in Drishyam 2 seven years after the first installment. She claims that this time, though, she took a more genuine approach to play the role of Ajay Devgn's on-screen wife, who must keep the family together while they are being investigated for murder.
During a conversation with mid-day, Saran was asked what caused the change. To which the actor replied that she got married and had a child in the years after Drishyam's release. Soon, Radha, her daughter, will turn two. She claims that she is a different person now that she is a mother.
Saran also claims that in the 2015 movie, her instincts served as a guide. Then, when she played a mother who is very protective of her daughters, she did what came naturally to her. The actor gave the part in Drishyam 2 a heartfelt performance. As a mother, she makes sure her child is not in danger by checking which side of the bed she is on. Therefore, the emotions were stronger this time while she was looking into the camera.
Saran is delighted to work again with Devgn and Tabu in Abhishek Pathak's film. She revealed that Tabu and she have been friends for a long time. Their collaboration began when they worked together on the Telugu movie Chennakesava Reddy in 2002.
Earlier this year, Devgn and Saran played onscreen husband and wife in SS Rajamouli's RRR. The duo was seen in a brief role as Ram Charan's onscreen parents, who were killed by the British.
Her recent releases also include the much-delayed Tadka, directed by Prakash Raj. In the ZEE5 release film, Saran is seen alongside Nana Patekar, Taapsee Pannu, and Ali Fazal.
