Popular cricketer Shubman Gill, who has won the hearts of people by hitting centuries on the scoreboard, has now made an entry into the film industry.

Shubman Gill is a passionate star whose works speak for themselves. On the field of cricket, the 23-year-old went past the 500-run mark in IPL 2023 for the first time in his career and completed 1000 runs for Gujarat Titans, the only ever player to do so.
And now, the young celebrity has entered the world of the Hindi film industry. Recently, the makers of the Hollywood film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse announced that the voice of Indian Spider-Man, Pavitr Prabhakar will be lent by famous cricketer Shubman Gill for the Hindi and Punjabi versions of the film. The film is going to be released at the theatres on June 1, 2023.
Speaking at a presser today, Gill shared why he chose to lend his voice to the Spider-man series. “When I was 7-8 years, I really enjoyed watching Spider-man films. I used to discuss this film with my school friends back then. I was such an ardent lover of Spider-man that I often... say for example, if the bottle is falling, I used to imagine that I have a web to catch it and act a certain way. As a small child, I often used to walk on my toes and hide, if I did some mischief... (laughing). I felt like I'm the chosen one.”
Ask him if the process of dubbing was difficult for a newcomer like you and pat comes his reply: “I think it was very exciting. Jo bhi wahan (in the studio) maine kiya. Punjabi was a little more fun for me. Hindi was a great experience. I have never done dubbing prior to this. Jitna maine socha that use kaafi mushkil tha. Overall, I had fun. I hope you like the trailer today.”
Gill also shares he is unable to contain his childlike excitement ahead of the film’s release and says, “We (My team and I) are very excited to watch the film. My family and friends, too. If given a chance, I will wear a spiderman costume and go to the theatres with my friends. Unfortunately, I'll not be there at the premier day as I have to go to London for work.”
The upcoming film is distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing and is the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018).
