Maestro, the Telugu remake of Sriram Raghavan's thriller AndhaDhun, is gearing up for a digital release on September 17. The film, directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, has actors Nithiin, Nabha Natesh, Tamannaah reprising the roles played by Ayushmann Khurrana, Radhika Apte and Tabu in the original. Earlier this year, the makers, Shresht Movies, opted against a theatrical release and sold the film to Disney+ Hotstar, settling for a direct-to-OTT premiere. The promo of a song from the film, titled Shuru Karo, was released on Saturday.
Shuru Karo has a catchy musical hook, starting with the lines 'Maestro..Maestro..I'm a maestro...Lovely life e..prathi roju', and has the lead cast of the film, Nithiin, Nabha and Tamannaah, grooving along with a bunch of background dancers in an exquisitely designed set. The promotional song won't appear in the film and is likely to be screened during the end credits. The song is shot on a lavish scale with Nithiin sporting blazers of several hues and the two leading ladies adding to the glam quotient. Bhanu Master is the dance choregrapher of Shuru Karo.
Other songs from the film including Vennello Aadapilla, Baby O Baby, La La La, have garnered impressive hits online. Produced by N. Sudhakar Reddy, N. Nikita Reddy and Rajkumar Akella, Maestro's album is composed by Mahati Swara Sagar. Cinematographer J Yuvaraj and editor SR Shekhar are part of the crew. Merlapaka Gandhi and Sheik Dawood have reworked the screenplay of Andhadhun for the same. Jisshu Sen Gupta, Naresh, Harsha, Mangli and Racha Ravi play supporting roles.
Andhadhun is simultaneously being remade in Malayalam and Tamil languages. The Malayalam version titled Bhramam, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Raashii Khanna has wrapped shoot and is confirmed to release on OTT. The Tamil version helmed by Thiagarajan features his actor son Prashanth, Priya Anand and Simran in key roles, and is nearing completion.
