Siddhant Chaturvedi had made an impactful Bollywood debut through Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt starring Gully Boy. However, the actor, who appeared in Inside Edge before that, had to reject Ranbir Kapoor-Alia’s Brahmastra for the movie. Not many know that the rejection affected his career, since Siddhant is among one of the popular names in the industry today. The actor opened about the same during a recent interview.

Siddhant spills what happened after his rejection

A newcomer, Siddhant, had rejected a big-budget film like Brahmastra. This, as one can imagine, invited wrath of the industry and the actor faced a lot of judgement, especially from the casting community. He spoke to The Lallantop about feeling unsure about Brahmastra, since there was no script or proper information in place when he was approached for the role. The actor was approached for Brahmastra a month before getting an offer for Gully Boy. When Siddhant told his casting director that he will not be able to work on the project, prompt came the response, “Pagal hai? Dharma ke saath hai, 3 films ka contract hai!” Soon after, the Gehraiyaan actor was blacklisted for rejecting roles after being selected. Assumed to be cocky and arrogant, he was not approached for other projects, till Gully Boy happened to him a month later. The same was possible because Brahmastra was under production for a long time.

The reason for his rejection

Siddhant had asked Ayan for the script of Brahmastra, stating that he is very excited for the project. However, since the movie was at a very nascent stage, there was no script at hand. Siddhant was aware that it is a trilogy that will demand at least five years of his life. The actor was also certain that nobody would notice him in front of Ranbir, Alia and Big B, especially when he doesn’t even have two lines to speak in the film. He was at crossroads but nothing was working in his favour and thus, Siddhant had to let go of the offer.

What Siddhant was offered

Siddhant was supposed to play one of the superheroes in the movie. He was offered to play one of Amitabh Bachchan’s students in the film. Apart from Big B, Shah Rukh Khan and Nagarjuna were the lead superheroes in the first part of the film, Shiva. The role that Siddhant was offered, the actor believes, was edited out.

Last seen in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan opposite Ananya Panday and Adarsh Gourav, Siddhant will next be seen in Yudhra.
