Siddharth and Divyansha Kaushik are pairing up for Takkar, an action romance directed by debutant Karthik G Krish, which is releasing simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil on June 9. The actor recently made a comeback to Telugu cinema with Mahasamudram in a role with several grey shades. He promised to deliver a proper commercial entertainer with Takkar in a press meet held in Hyderabad.

“Many who’ve followed my career have always asked why do I restrict myself to genre-specific, character-driven and not try out and out commercial entertainers? Takkar is my answer to them. The director Karthik G Krish was conscious to break a pattern in my career and present me differently. I was thrilled by his vision for the story,” Siddharth said.

Takkar is the first out and out commercial film in my career with all ingredients in the right mix to please audiences, he stated. “Those who’ve seen me as a lover boy will be surprised to see my transformation in a rugged avatar for Takkar. It’s an exciting experience. While the film is made by Passion Studios, I’m glad that two big banners - People Media Factory and Abhishek Agarwal Arts - have come forward to back this in Telugu.”

The Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam actor is confident that Takkar would draw crowds to theatres and it’ll be quite an experience to witness it on the big-screen. “There are nearly six films of mine waiting for release. Starting from June 9, I’ll have a release every three months and I’ll also complete two decades into the industry this August. It’s great to be back with a flurry of biggies in my 21st year of filmdom. I’ll always need your support.”

Making a good film has always been difficult, now a days even that is easy but taking it to audiences has become challenging, he opined. “Audiences are now more distracted than ever before and have so many viewing options. We enjoyed 50-day runs for our films back then and I’m sure Takkar will be a huge commercial success. I did five fight sequences for it and I bulked up, took martial arts training to perfect them. They’ve shaped up very well.”

More than being a big star, Siddharth discussed his ambition to be a good actor and he felt Takkar would do well to prove his versatility. “Divyansha has a very unique character and how the guy reacts to her quirks will make for a good viewing. It’s a proper commercial film and Yogi Babu has done a double role for the first time in his career, while Abhimanyu Singh has scope for comedy in a negative role. I sang with Sid Sriram for a song that’ll be a youth anthem for sure. It’s a theatrical film and you must enjoy it with friends and family.”

He credited the first-time director for pushing him hard in an ability to extract a newer dimension from him as an actor. Siddharth will also be seen in Shankar’s Indian 2 soon.
