It's a known fact that Sidharth Malhotra, before making his debut with Student of the Year, was an assistant director on the sets of Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan. During the shoot, the actor got to spend a lot of time with Shah Rukh Khan, and during a recent interview with Zakir Khan for Netflix India, he spoke about the same. Sidharth shared about the love and respect he has for the superstar and how he struck up a conversation with him for the first time.

The Ek Villain actor started by saying, "Shah Rukh sir was very sweet. He noticed I was nervous and new, and I was from Delhi. So sometimes when I would... When he had a close-up shot and I would... I didn't know how things worked. I'd hold the clap at chest level, not visible on the camera. So he would move it up a little. I'd thank him."

Recalling a photo of them together, Sidharth stated, "I have a picture like that of him in LA. It has Shah Rukh sir performing and me holding the clap. I have many amazing memories from the set."

Talking about their first meeting, the handsome hunk shared, "When I met Shah Rukh sir... We had met in Los Angeles. It was his first day of shooting. We had already shot for 3.4 days. I had rehearsed for the clap so I wouldn't fumble in front of him. He was very sweet. His warmth is quite apparent. It might be because of his upbringing. He makes everyone around him comfortable. On the first day, I couldn't speak at all. I think he was drinking coffee 3–4 hours later, and I was looking for an excuse to go to him, so I took biscuits and offered them to him. He didn't take any, though. I was a little sad that he didn't take any, and I told myself maybe he doesn't eat biscuits."

Sidharth also revealed that SRK knew he wanted to be an actor. Narrating an incident, the Shershaah star said, "As we started shooting on location, sometimes, if you are doing the clap, you sit on the floor. So if someone asks you to do it, you are ready to go. Only Shah Rukh sir and I were at that location, it was somewhere on a road. He suddenly started talking to me, saying, "You know, you should always first come and see if you can use anything on location as a prop." I thought, "There are just two of us here; who's he talking to?" I looked at him and said, "Sir?" He repeated it because he knew that I wanted to be an actor. So very sweetly, he was telling me; he's very sharp that way. He creates many things on the spot."

He concluded by heaping praise on SRK, stating, "From there, my respect for him and my love for him grew even more. If he said something while working, I would note it down."
