The release date of the biggest film in director Vinayan and actor Siju Wilson’s career, Pathonpathaam Noottaandu, has been set! The veteran filmmaker took to his social media page to announce that the movie, which revolves around the life of Arattupuzha Velayudha Panicker, will hto theatres on Thiruvonam day on September 8.

The film will release in theatres not just in Malayalam, but also in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi, revealed Vinayan in his social media post. “The movie talks about the strife-filled history of Travancore in the 1800s,” he wrote, adding that it will be an action-packed thriller.

Siju plays the protagonist Panicker, a reformer and warrior who had fought against the oppression of lower castes. The film will “inarguably be a milestone” in Siju’s career, wrote Vinayan, adding that the audience too will take notice of the actor and his performance after watching the film.

Vinayan, who has helmed hits such as Rakshasa Rajavu and Dada Sahib, said that this film is mounted on a big canvas and is made keeping in mind a theatrical experience for the audience. Apart from M Jayachandran’s songs, the film will also have a background score composed by Tamil music director Santosh Narayanan, who will be making his Malayalam debut with the period film. National Award-winning stunt directors Supreme Sundar and Rajasekhar have worked on the action choreography of the film, which also has Sudev Nair, Chemban Vinod Jose, Poonam Bajwa, Kayadu Lohar, Deepti Sati, Anoop Menon and Senthil Krishna as part of its cast.

The director also claimed that it’s the biggest production to come out from Sree Gokulam Movies, which had earlier backed big historical movies such as Mammootty’s Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja, Nivin Pauly’s Kayamkulam Kochunni and is next set to produce Jayasurya’s 3D fantasy thriller Kathanar, which will be helmed by #Home filmmaker Rojin Thomas.

Pathonpathaam Noottaandu will clash with Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Gold and Biju Menon’s Oru Thekkan Thallu Case in theatres.
