Salman Khan has been making headlines for various reasons over the past year. While the superstar is in the news for his upcoming film Sikandar, he was also the center of attention due to multiple death threats he received throughout the year. In a shocking turn of events, bullets were even fired at his Bandra residence in the early hours of the morning last year. This alarming incident took place around the same time he was filming his highly anticipated movie Sikandar. However, despite the looming threats, Salman Khan remained undeterred, continuing to shoot for the film—albeit under heightened security. Now, director A.R. Murugadoss has opened up about the challenging circumstances surrounding the shoot and how the threats impacted the set.
A.R. Murugadoss is making his Hindi cinema comeback after over a decade, and he’s doing it with none other than Salman Khan. While discussing his experience of working with the superstar, the filmmaker reflected on the time when Salman was facing continuous threats.Salman Khan's Eid releases to watch on OTT: Dabangg to Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan
He revealed that their shooting schedules were severely affected, as security checks and protocols took up a significant portion of their day. This led to extended working hours, often stretching into late nights and early mornings.
Speaking to ETimes, Murugadoss shared: "Salman sir is completely different. The scale of Sikandar was massive—we often had scenes with 10,000 to 20,000 people on set. Managing such large crowds required high security and intense coordination. Our schedule was already demanding, and it became even more hectic with the ongoing threats.”

He further added: "After the incident, security was further tightened. The checking process for all the extra artists on set would take 2-3 hours daily. Their entries and inspections consumed a major part of our day, often causing delays. We would start shooting late and wrap up in the early hours of the morning. Our biological clocks were thrown off, but once we adapted, it became routine. Despite everything, the set had a very positive energy.”
Sikandar, starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, is slated for an Eid 2025 release. In this film, Salman Khan will be seen in a never-before-seen avatar, playing a ruthless businessman who undergoes a transformation after witnessing rampant corruption in the country. This marks his first collaboration with producer Sajid Nadiadwala since Kick, Judwaa, and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.
Apart from Sikandar, Salman Khan has an exciting lineup ahead, including Kick 2 and Aditya Chopra’s Tiger Vs Pathaan. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates on Sikandar and everything else from the world of streaming and films!
