Sikandar Box office collections day 1: Salman Khan fails to surpass Tiger 3’s opening numbers hinting at a not so great start

The last week, ever since the advance bookings for Sikandar opened, has been spent tracking what the movie is doing at the box office. The film, starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles, is one of the most anticipated movies of the year and finally hit the big screen yesterday after much back-and-forth and confusion surrounding its release.

Now, as we move into the second day, the numbers for the first day are here, and they are not showing a very promising sign for a film featuring Salman Khan, especially one released on Eid. What’s even more concerning is the fact that the movie hasn’t even matched the opening-day collection of Tiger 3, let alone surpassed it.

Sikandar vs. Tiger 3: Day 1 Collections

The last time Salman Khan met his fans on Eid was with Tiger 3, which also released on a Sunday. The movie, which was part of Yash Raj Films’ celebrated Spy Universe, turned out to be one of the most successful films of the year.

Now that Sikandar has opened, comparisons were bound to be drawn, taking us back to November 12, 2023, when Tiger 3 hit the big screens. According to Sacnilk, Sikandar earned approximately ₹26 crore on its opening day—falling far behind the predictions that were made for the movie.

What’s even more concerning is the fact that early predictions compared its buzz to Tiger 3 and suggested that Sikandar might replicate the business that the YRF film did in 2023. However, the movie has failed to even match Tiger 3’s opening-day earnings, let alone surpass them.

The Katrina Kaif starrer earned ₹53 crore on its first day of release, meaning Sikandar is lagging behind by nearly 50% in comparison.

Sikandar stars Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, alongside Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, Kajal Aggarwal, Anjani Dhawan, and an ensemble cast. Backed by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by master storyteller A.R. Murugadoss, the film was scheduled for release on March 30, 2025.
