Salman Khan has broken the norm of Friday release with his upcoming Eid offering, Sikandar. The movie will release on a Sunday rather than a Friday, which breaks the norm set in Bollywood. This move happens keeping the date of Eid in mind. Here's everything you need to know...

Sikandar to release on Sunday, not Friday

Salman Khan has taken a unique decision - one which involves releasing his Eid movie Sikandar on Sunday over the usual Friday release. This is Salman's way of breaking the norm and this time, he even has a special reason to do so.

Salman Khan releases Sikandar closest to Eid

Eid this year falls on March 31, which is a Monday. Since Salman wished to release his movie closest to the festival, he decided that Sunday would probably be the best time to do so.

Is releasing Sikandar on Sunday a smart move or not so much?

Releasing a movie towards the end of the weekend comes with its share of risk but a grand opening is almost guaranteed. Since it is a Sunday and the one right before Eid, footfalls for Sikandar are expected to be highest on day 1, which would be Sunday. People would line up to watch the movie since morning, given they are well-aware about Salman breaking the norm and releasing the movie on Sunday. If not, then it might take another week for Sikandar to catch up. The bigger threat is that not everybody might get their Eid holiday. In that case, Sikandar will not be averse from the Monday litmus test. So, releasing the film on Sunday would come with its fair share of risks.

Sikandar International advance booking now open

Sikandar's advance bookings are open but internationally. It would still take some time for the bookings to open in India. Of course the day that the bookings open, the movie might witness the highest footfalls and go houseful in many areas too. But, we would have more clarity with the film's release only.
