If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, the digital rights of Silambarasan TR's upcoming film Pathu Thala has been bagged by Amazon Prime Video. Though the portal is yet to make an official announcement about the same, speculations are rife that Prime Video has bagged the rights. It is to be noted that Amazon Prime Video had bagged the digital rights of Silambarasan TR's earlier film, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu as well.
The post production for Pathu Thala is going in full swing. In the meantime, the film's music composer AR Rahman announced yesterday that the first single from the film Namma Satham is all set to be out tomorrow. Taking to his social media handle, he wrote, "#NammaSatham the first single from #Atman @SilambarasanTR_ @Gautham_Karthik starrer #PathuThala will be out on Feb 3 at 12.06 AM @SonyMusicSouth @Lyricist_Vivek @iamSandy_Off @nameis_krishna #PathuThalaFromMarch30 Worldwide #StudioGreen Release (sic)."
The film is a remake of the Kannada film Mufti (2017), which had Shiva Rajkumar, Sri Murali and Shanvi Srivastava as part of the star cast. The plot revolves around a police officer who tracks down a dreaded criminal. The neo noir crime thriller, which was directed by debutant Narthan, emerged as one of the biggest hits of Shivraj Kumar's career.
The Tamil version has Silambarasan TR, Gautham Karthik and Priya Bhavani Shankar as part of the star cast. The remake is helmed by Obeli N Krishna and the film marks the comeback of AR Rahman with Krishna after a long haitus. The last time the duo had worked together was in Sillunnu Oru Kadhal, which had Suriya and Jyotika in the lead. The shoot for Pathu Thala was wrapped towards the end of last year and the team has begun dubbing for the portions. The film is gearing up to hit screens in March.
