Singer Rahul Jain accused of rape again, FIR filed against him

Indian singer-composer Rahul Jain, who grabbed the limelight in 2014 with his MTV Aloft Star act, finds himself in legal trouble as a fashion stylist has accused him of raping her and filed an FIR against him, according to a report by Hindustan Times. 

 The woman's FIR cited that the alleged rape had taken place at the singer's residence in Andheri (Mumbai) on August 11, the HT report stated. The police complaint has been lodged at the Oshiwara station and, according to the complaintant's recorded statement, Rahul got in touch with her on Instagram to express his appreciation for her work. He, then, asked her to visit his flat and was assured that she will be hired as his personal stylist, the police was quoted as saying by HT. 

On August 11, when the woman visited Rahul's apartment in Andheri, he had allegedly taken her to his bedroom to show his personal belongings and raped her there. She further added that Rahul assaulted her upon resistance and also tried to destroy evidence after committing the alleged crime. 

According to Hindustan Times, the police has registered an FIR under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntary causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) against Rahul. However, no offocial arrests have been made so far. 

Rahul Jain has released a statement, claiming the accusation "fake and baseless". 

"Earlier also a woman had made similar allegations against me but I got justice. This woman may be an associate of that woman," Rahul alleged. 

As mentioned by Rahul in his statement, this is not an isolated incident and Rahul has been accused of sexual assault in the past as well. In 2021, Rahul, along with two of his family members, were accused of rape, forcible abortions, abandonment of child and cheating, as per HT.

Rahul Jain has sung many popular singles and has composed songs for movies as well as web shows.
