Chiranjeevi, while praising Akash Goparaju, son of singer Sunitha, for the trailer of his acting debut, Sarkaaru Noukari, said a few words that would help us understand the inner workings of the industry better. “Once someone in the family is a celebrity and the children get used to the limelight, it’s only natural that they too are attracted towards the film industry,” the Waltair Veerayya star stated.

Ever since her debut with Gulabi’s Ee Velalo Neevu, singer Sunitha, in an extremely competitive industry, has found a way to be relevant as a musician and voice artist for nearly three decades. Her son Akash is a capable musician too but is drawn more to acting, Sunitha said at Sarkaru Naukari’s trailer launch. It was the legendary filmmaker K Raghavendra Rao who decided to introduce him as an actor.

When asked what advice she gave her son before entering the industry, Sunitha shared, “I think it takes great patience and humility to survive in films. The longevity of the industry is always decided by your conduct and attitude.” She’s naturally thrilled when names like K Raghavendra Rao, Tanikella Bharani and Anil Ravipudi say kind words about Akash’s acting potential and on-screen ease.

She has also sung a promo number for her son’s film. Akash is paired opposite theatre actor Bhavana Vazhapandal in the drama, which has cinematography and dialogue by the director Ganganamoni Shekar himself. The tale revolves around how a protagonist and his wife grapple with a village’s response to an AIDS campaign run by the government.

Sunitha is a regular on television reality shows as well, having been part of the judges panel for the recent reason of ETV’s Padutha Theeyaga, alongside veteran musician Srinivasa Murthy and lyricist Chandrabose. She has also acted in a few short films: Raagam, helmed by Sree Chaitu and Thadasthu (directed by actor and musician RP Patnaik).
