Starring Jayam Ravi and Keerthy in the lead roles, Siren is set to make a direct debut on OTT. Written and directed by Anthony Bhagyaraj, the movie also stars Anupama Parameswaran and Samuthirakani.
Tamil star Jayam Ravi's Siren will finally see the light of day. ZEE5 on Monday officially confirmed that the movie will premiere on its platform on January 26, coinciding with the Republic Day celebrations.
Siren was supposed to be released in December last year. However, the film failed to make it to the theatres despite boasting prominent stars of Tamil cinema in the lead roles. The reason behind Siren failing to get an initial theatrical launch is unclear given that even the movies shot on shoestring budgets managed to get a token release in cinemas before becoming available for streaming.
While the release of the teaser last year, Jayaram Ravi tweeted that the film will hit the screens in December. The month came and went but, the film was nowhere to be found at the box office.
As other big releases like Animal and Salaar caught the imagination of the movie buffs, Siren went out of focus. With its upcoming OTT releases, Siren will be retrieved from the oblivion of the public memory.
Judging from the teaser, Siren seems to be a story of vengeance. It's safe to assume that Jayam Ravi plays the role of a wrongly convicted former ambulance driver. And he bides his time in prison preparing to wage a war against those who wronged him and robbed 14 years of his life. And once he gets out the jail, all hell breaks loose. The film also stars Keerthy Suresh, who plays the role of a cop and seems to be obsessed with the question - whether Jayam Ravi is a hero or a villain.
Written and directed by Anthony Bhagyaraj, the movie also stars Anupama Parameswaran, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu and Tulasi among others.
