Musically, Sita Ramam, the war-romance starring Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur, is turning out to be a treat. The Hanu Raghavapudi directorial has music by Vishal Chandrasekhar. Kaanunna Kalyanam, the third single from the film was launched at a popular engineering college in Hyderabad today. The song rendered by Anurag Kulkarni, Sinduri S has lyrics by late Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry.

There’s something very pristine and pure about Kaanunna Kalyanam, the romance is old-world and driven by simple, relatable lyrics - the effort to lend a classical touch to the relationship works brilliantly. Beyond the charming lyrics and the mellifluous music, the number is benefited by the lead pair’s effortless chemistry. It’s very easy to believe that they’re indeed a lovestruck couple.

Look at how the opening lines attain a fine balance between thought and lyrical flow and make it seem very easy on the ears - ‘Kaanunna kalyaanam yemannadhi…Swayamvaram manoharam…Raanunna vaibhogam yetuvantidhi…Prathi kshanam marovaram’ This is a number where the signature of the legendary lyricist is very evident and makes us miss him all the more.

Kaanunna Kalyanam is shot largely in the scenic locales of Kashmir, going by the lyrical video and perfectly complements its lyrical, musical brilliance. The other songs in the film, Oh Rama Hey Sita and Inthandham, have earned the plaudits of music buffs and critics alike. The teaser of the film, hinting at the vibe of the war-romance set in the 1960s, was also launched recently.

Sita Ramam has a terrific ensemble cast - the names include Rashmika Mandanna, Sumanth, Tharun Bhascker, Gautham Menon, Prakash Raj, Bhumika Chawla, Rukmini Vijaykumar, to name a few. Ashwini Dutt has bankrolled the film under Swapna Cinema while it’s presented under Vyjayanthi Movies. PS Vinod, Shreyaas are the cinematographers. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is the editor.
