Finally, the makers of Sita – The Incarnation seem to have found their ‘Sita’. Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut has been roped in to play the role. It was announced recently that the filmmakers had locked in the Thalaivii star for the titular role in the drama.
Confirming the same, producer Saloni Sharma of SS Studio issued a press release and welcomed the actress on board. She said as a woman, she could not have been happier with the casting choice. Sharma was all praise for the star, whom she called fearless and daring, someone who symbolized the very essence and spirit of Indian women. She also called the move a step towards celebrating equality in all respects.
The upcoming magnum opus of director Alaukik Desai was the subject of widespread speculation earlier. There were reports of Kareena Kapoor being part of the project but were shunned by the makers in a post that called out such rumours to be ‘disrespectful’. Names such as those of Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone were also floating around the grapevine.
Written by KV Vijayendra of Baahubali fame, Sita – The Incarnation is said to be a version of the famous Hindu epic Ramayana as told from the perspective of Sita, Rama’s devoted wife and daughter of the Goddess of Earth. According to reports, the writer too had expressed Kangana Ranaut to be his choice to play Sita. The film is also being touted to have some state-of-the-art Vfx.
