One of the most debated topics among Bollywood is the age-gap with female leads. This debate was at peak when Salman Khan (Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan) romanced Rashmika Mandanna in Sikandar, and has crept back in as the next Khan, Aamir Khan, prepares for his film Sitaare Zameen Par's release. Aamir was questioned about age-gap with his female lead, Genelia D'Souza Deshmukh. Interestingly, Aamir's own nephew Imran Khan's chemistry with Genelia remains quite memorable.
Aamir Khan, last seen in Kajol's Salaam Venky, will be romancing Genelia D'Souza Deshmukh in his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par. When asked about it, the actor acknowledged it and shared the same concern with The Indian Express, but he also had another point to make. Aamir feels that with VFX, actors can look younger (or older) than their age, and thus, he believes that it is no longer a concern.
Back when Aamir Khan's nephew Imran Khan was making his Bollywood debut with Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, little would he know that he and Genelia D'Souza Deshmukh were setting a standard for romance. The on-screen pair received much love and continue doing so till date. 15 years later, uncle Aamir Khan is seen romancing Genelia on-screen as they play husband and wife in Sitaare Zameen Par. Although acknowledging the thought, Aamir laughed it out as he went on to state, "That was a long time ago. And ab Imran bhi kaafi mere age ka ho gaya hai." Not just Aamir, Sitaare Zameen Par would see Genelia also back in Hindi films after a long gap.
Directed by RS Prasanna of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan fame, Sitaare Zameen Par is the Hindi adaptation of Champions/Campeones and will see Taare Zameen Par actor Darsheel Safary too. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical-only release on June 20.
