Sitaare Zameen Par is Aamir Khan's upcoming film following Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), and it promises to be another moving drama about societal awareness and the power of human connection. As far as anyone can tell, RS Prasanna's next film is a spiritual sequel to the superstar's 2007 masterpiece Taare Zameen Par and is expected to hit theatres by the end of May.
Campeones is a highly praised 2018 Spanish film about a basketball coach and his squad of intellectually disabled players; while the producers have kept most story details under wraps, it is officially remade as Sitaare Zameen Par. The Hindi version stays true to the original storyline, which is about a bunch of guys with intellectual disabilities who find their value in athletics.
A spectacular musical number shot in the Marol neighbourhood of Mumbai not long ago was a major plot point. Vijay Ganguly choreographed the five-day number, which featured Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh.
Someone on the set told Mid Day that it's a feel-good track. They don't know whether it will be in the story or not. It will probably be a unique song that plays over the credits, serving as a montage that connects the film's main ideas.
The production team is reportedly in the final stages of post-production, with only a few finishing touches remaining. Starring alongside him in a supporting role is Darsheel Safary, who played the leading character, Ishaan Awasthi, in Taare Zameen Par. His involvement is expected to unify the two films emotionally, despite their different stories.
Safary has been a part of other films including Bumm Bumm Bole (2010) and the 2023 Gujarati film Kutch Express.
Aamir Khan also intends to launch the marketing campaign in early May, in anticipation of the release date. The subject of the film is highly personal to the superstar, according to a source close to the actor. He is eager to get the word out about the film early on and position it wisely.
Sitaare Zameen Par has become a byword for Khan's cinematic legacy; moviegoers are hoping that the film's universal values of inclusion, resilience, and empathy will resonate with them.
