Aamir Khan is all set for the release of his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par. The film, directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir, is a remake of the Spanish film Champions. A few weeks ago, Aamir said that Sitaare Zameen Par would be a theatrical-only release as he thinks releasing a film on a digital platform just eight weeks after its theatrical debut is an unfair proposition. Now, the actor revealed that Amitabh Bachchan encouraged him to trust his instincts about the film's theatre-only release decision.
During a group interview, India Today asked Aamir Khan how the industry reacted to his decision to release Sitaare Zameen Par only in theaters. He revealed that it was Amitabh Bachchan who encouraged him to take risks and stand firm in his beliefs.
Aamir said, “Everyone was suggesting we go the conventional way, but I was adamant about a theatre-only release. That night, when I met Mr Bachchan, I don’t know what came over me, but I opened up to him about my concerns. I told him that friends and well-wishers all felt I wasn’t making the right choice. But he told me, ‘Why aren’t you doing it? You’ve always taken risks. You’re a risk-taker.’"
The Dangal actor said that Big B's words uplifted him and motivated him to stand firm in his belief.

The actor-producer also said that he has no problem with any OTT platform, but he doesn't find the timeline reasonable. Khan said he would have been comfortable with a six-month gap, but would never want his film to be released digitally so soon after its theatrical release.
"I did receive offers, but I turned them down because I want audiences to go to theatres and watch my film. I believe in cinema, and I believe in my audience,” said the actor.
Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports drama film, starring Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh. The story revolves around a disgraced basketball coach, played by Aamir Khan, who is ordered by a court to coach a team of intellectually disabled people.
Other notable supporting cast members include Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. The film will hit theatres on June 20.
