Aamir Khan had spoken about his 'last movie' in a recent podcast and the statement went so viral that the media, as well as netizens, thought that the superstar was ready for retirement. Within days, the actor went on to prove that it was further from the actual truth, for he announced a new project. RS Prasanna, who directed Aamir in the upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par (Aamir's comeback to acting), already called the shots and recalled his funny reaction after hearing how Aamir wanted to quit acting. Here's what he said...
While talking to Screen, RS Prasanna revealed his own reaction after hearing that superstar Aamir Khan wishes to discontinue acting after working on Mahabharata. "Imagine when a superstar like Aamir meets me and decides to quit acting, people would blame me. Aisa kya tha director mein ki he made a superstar quit acting! It was a very strange moment. But I knew it was an emotional response," the Shubh Mangal Saavdhan director said. Recalling how Aamir has the 'keeda of acting', he said the superstar is the 'child of cinema.' The director recalled telling Aamir to take a break, but he is sure that the actor cannot quit acting, just like how AR Rahman might never quit music.
Aamir Khan had already announced Sitaare Zameen Par and Mahabharata, and the actor has now hinted at his recollaboration with Rajkumar Hirani on a movie after 3 Idiots and PK. The actor, last seen in a cameo appearance in Kajol's Salaam Venky, is yet to confirm all of his other projects, but one thing is certain - he is unlikely to quit acting anytime soon.
Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par is the Hindi adaptation of Champions/Campeones. The movie is about a basketball coach training the specially-abled. The movie also marks Genelia D'Souza Deshmukh's comeback in Bollywood. Featuring Taare Zameen Par child Darsheel Safary in a special role, Sitaare Zameen Par is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 20.
