Sivakarthikeyan on why he has no smoking onscreen rule

Sivakarthikeyan is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in Tamil cinema, who made himself to the top tier with sheer hard work and dedication. However, the actor has set some rules for himself, with one of them being not smoking onscreen.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Sivakarthikeyan opened up about no smoking onscreen rule. While highlighting that there are also children as his audience, the actor clarified that it is not a rule he gives to his directors.

However, he added that he does not endorse a smoking screen as a sort of glorification. "If the character, narration and story have the justification, I can do it. But it is generic, I would not want to do it. I also know I cannot do it well. I will be very nervous and conscious. It should not be forced, at the same time, I am not forcing the directors not to write.”

Speaking about playing antagonists, Sivakarthikeyan mentioned he has no qualms about smoking when he is playing the villain. However, the script and director should convince him to play as he is not confident enough to carry such characters.
