The latest information is that Sivakarthikeyan plays an upright army officer, in the film, which is speculated to be titled Maaveeran. However, an official confirmation is awaited. Touted to be an intense action drama, SK 21 has Sai Pallavi playing the female lead. A source tells OTTplay, "We are planning to shoot across several locations in India. And, the film will go on the floors by July. For now, the film is in the pre-production stage. Sivakarthikeyan will sport a stylish look for the film!"

SK 21 has music by Harris Jayaraj. This is the first time both of them are collaborating on a project. According to reports, Sivakarthikeyan will undergo rigorous training to sport a toned and fit look of an army officer.

Sivakarthikeyan's last release was Don, directed by newbie Cibi Chakravarthi. The film, which is running in theatres, is doing a fantastic business at the box office, raking in Rs 70 crore from its worldwide ticket sales. Don was released on May 13, on about 400 screens.

Besides, he's a part of Jathi Ratnalu director Anudeep's Tamil-Telugu bilingual, where he plays a school teacher. Speaking about the same to Cinema Express, Sivakarthikeyan, said, this is his first step towards a pan-Indian release. "It is a straight Tamil film that will be dubbed into Telugu. That script has only been written in Tamil. After the shoot, we have planned to dub it into Telugu and add certain elements for the local audience."

Also, Sivakarthikeyan has his long-pending sci-fi, Aayalan, up for release. Directed by R Ravikumar of Indru Netru Naalai fame, the film has music by AR Rahman. Aayalan has Rakul Preet Singh, Yogi Babu, Karunakaran and Isha Koppikar in key roles.
