Sivakarthikeyan's Don gets a huge opening in the US

If the buzz is to be believed, Sivakarthikeyan's recent outing Don has got a huge opening in the US. The film, which released on May 13, has Sivakarthikeyan and Priyanka Mohan in the lead, with SJ Suryah playing the antogonist. The film, which released in Tamil and Telugu is running is running to packed houses.

The comedy campus caper opened to positive reviews from critics and the audience. The film distributed by Udhayanidhi's Red Giant Movies in Tamil Nadu, has taken a good opening. According to a few sources, the film has collected 92 lakh from Chennai and around 8 crores from across Tamil Nadu. The movie is considered to be the second biggest opener for Siva after Seemaraja which released in 2018. 

Now we hear that Don has become Sivakarthikeyan's biggest opening film in the USA. It is reported that Don has become the third Tamil film to cross 100k $ in a single day. The other two films that have achieved the feat are reported to be Thalapathy Vijay's Beast and Ajith's Valimai. The film had apparently opened in 225 screens. 

The film marks the directorial debut of Cibi Chakravarthy and the star cast also includes Soori, Samuthirakani, Sivaangi, RJ Vijay, and Munishkanth. Music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander. Sivakarthikeyan had taken to his social media page to wish the director on his maiden venture. He had written, "Excited and extremely happy to present you #DON ❤️ @Dir_Cibi ‘s maiden directorial venture, hope you all wil lik this film.. DON is all yours now ❤️❤️👍 #DONfromToday (sic)."

Don has Sivakarthikeyan playing a college student. It has has been extensively shot across Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Pollachi and Udumalpettai, and has been cleared with a U certificate from the Censor Board. Cinematography is by KM Bhaskaran and editing is Nagooran Ramachandran. The trailer and songs were released at an audio launch held in Chennai.
