‘Air' streaming dates announced

Ben Affeck’s critically-acclaimed sports drama Air, based on Nike’s deal with Michael Jordan in creating the iconic brand Air Jordan, is set to release on Prime Video. The film stars Matt Damon in the lead, with Affleck essaying a prominent role alongside Jason Bateman and Viola Davis. The film was praised by critics when it hit theatres in the US earlier this year, and it is set to release on Prime Video on May 12.

‘Klara and the Sun’ adaptation to be helmed by Taika Waititi

Writer Kazuo Ishiguro's iconic New York Times bestselling novel Klara and the Sun is set to be adapted into a feature film by Taika Waititi. The Jojo Rabbit and Thor: Love and Thunder director already has several projects lined up apart from the upcoming adaptation. Interior Chinatown, a Star Wars film, and a Time Bandits series are among the projects that are keeping the Kiwi actor/filmmaker busy. Klara and the Sun tells the story of an AI humanoid designed to help lonely teenagers.

Upcoming thriller ‘Reckoner’ to be headlined by Christina Hendricks

Mad Men and Good Girls star Christina Hendricks has been roped in to play the lead in the upcoming thriller titled Reckoner. Directed by debutant Nissar Modi, the film is based on Rachel Ingalls' short story about a wealthy woman whose dark past threatens to shatter the image of the perfect life that she has shaped over years.

Noah Hawley's upcoming Aliens series casts Sydney Chandler

Noah Hawley, the award-winning showrunner of critically-acclaimed shows such as Legion and Fargo is developing a series based on the Alien franchise. Don't Worry Darling star Sydney Chandler has been cast as the lead of the upcoming series, which is separate from Fede Álvarez's upcoming Alien film. While further details have been kept under wraps, it has been revealed that Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley will not show up in the series as the story will be set in an unexplored timeline of the Alien universe.

Major TV shows halt production due to writer’s strike

Abbott Elementary, Cobra Kai, Yellowjackets, all the Late Night shows including Late Night with Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and SNL are among the several American TV programs that were forced to halt production following the writer’s strike being enforced across America. The Writers Guild of America recently announced the strike after negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers fell through.

'Atharva' starring Karthik Raju and Simran Choudhary announces release month

Mahesh Reddy’s upcoming film Atharva, has finally received its release window. The Telugu film stars Karthik Raju, Simran Choudhary, and Ayraa in prominent roles, and is reportedly a crime thriller. The highly-anticipated Telugu film will also be released in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam and is slated to release in June this year.

The Kerala Story trailer description changed amidst controversy

Sudipto Sen’s upcoming film The Kerala Story, which was touted as the "heart-breaking and gut-wrenching stories of 32,000 women” who were forcefully converted to Islam to join ISIS, has courted controversy. Since the launch of the trailer, the film has faced significant backlash for allegedly propagating misinformation. The Kerala government has also released a statement condemning the film and the makers have changed the description beneath the trailer from 32,000 women to three women. The film is set to hit theatres on May 5.

Dune: Part Two to release first trailer today

Dune: Part 2, Denis Villeneuve’s highly-anticipated sequel to the multiple-Academy Award-winning film Dune is set to release its first trailer today. Warner Bros released a teaser featuring Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides using a thumper to draw a giant sandworm. The film is set to release on November 3, 2023. Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, and Stellan Skarsgård will reprise their roles while Florence Pugh, Léa Seydoux, Austin Butler, and Christopher Walken will join the cast in the sequel.
