Bass Revees, the new 'Yellowstone' spin-off, adds Shea Whigham

Shea Whigham, best known for his turn in Perry Mason, Boardwalk Empire, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, The Wolf of Wall Street, and First Man, has joined the cast of a new Yellowstone spin-off series, titled Bass Reeves. He will star opposite David Oyelowo, and the new series is a prequel to 1883, part of the Yellowstone universe helmed by Taylor Sheridan. Oyelowo will essay the titular character, who was the first black deputy U.S. marshal while Whigham will play the role of the cruel slave trader, Col. George Reeves. The series is among several Yellowstone spin-offs such as 1666, 1883, 1923, and 6666.

Netflix documentary on convicted paedophile Gary Glitter in development

The dramatic fall from grace of pop star Gary Glitter, after becoming a hit singer is well documented. Now Netflix is hoping to dig deeper into the convicted paedophile, Gary Glitter’s checkered life. The three-part series will examine the events that took place in Glitter’s life before and after his conviction, with archival footage, unseen photos, and interviews of those who knew him or engaged with him. The docu series is being helmed by Misha and the Wolves director Sam Hobkinson.

Ayo Edebiri to reprise her role in Abbott Elementary

Actress Ayo Edebiri is set to reprise her role as Ayesha, Janine Teagues’s sister on the show. She will appear in an upcoming episode. Fans of the series can expect more tensions between the sisters, something that has been hinted at in previous episodes. Will we finally figure out the reason behind Janine’s fragmented relationship with her sister? We’ll just have to wait and watch.

Chloe Bailey and Anjelika Washington to star in new musical

Chloe Bailey, one-half of the popular R&B duo, Chloe x Halle, is set to play the lead in a new musical titled Praise This. She will be joined by Tall Girl star Anjelika Washington, with Quavo, Druski, and Tristan Mack Wilds essaying supporting roles. The Tina Gordon directorial narrates the story of a young woman who wants to become a successful musician at any cost. Chloe has previously featured in Grown-ish.

Nancy Meyers to helm new rom-com for Netflix

Nancy Meyers, the popular filmmaker widely recognised for helming superhit rom-coms such as Father of the Bride, The Parent Trap, and The Holiday is set to direct a new film for Netflix. Big names such as Scarlett Johansson, Penélope Cruz, Michael Fassbender, and Owen Wilson are reportedly in talks to join the project. The story will revolve around a novice writer-director who becomes involved in a personal and professional relationship with her producer. The plot has parallels to Meyers’ own life, considering she married her producer Charles Shyer in 1980 when she was a young filmmaker. We’re already digging into a bucket of popcorn in anticipation for this one to drop.

New Chris Evans and Ana de Armas film set for April release

Hollywood stars Chris Evans and Ana de Armas are set to reunite for a new Apple TV+ film titled Ghosted. Both actors were last seen in the 2022 Netflix action thriller, The Gray Man. The new film is also a spy thriller like The Gray Man, and revolves around a man who goes in search of his date who ‘ghosted’ him after a romantic night out. But as it turns out, he soon finds out that she happens to be a secret agent and that he has inadvertently got himself embroiled in an international conspiracy. The film is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on April 21.
