Daniel Dae Kim to star in Amazon’s new series ‘Butterfly’

Lost and Hawaii Five-0 actor Daniel Dae Kim will star and serve as executive producer of the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series Butterfly. The series is based on a graphic novel by Boom Studios and will feature six episodes. It is described as a spy thriller that revolves around a man named Daniel Jung, an ex-American spy settled in South Korea. His past mistakes eventually catch up to him as a deadly young assassin named Rebecca is tasked with killing him. The Mentalist and Gotham writer Ken Woodruff will serve as co-creator, along with Korean novelist Steph Cha.

'Minecraft' film adds Matt Berry to its cast

IT Crowd and What We Do in the Shadows star Matt Berry has been cast in the upcoming Jason Momoa film Minecraft. The video game adaptation has been in development since 2014, and it appears production is finally set to commence with the latest casting announcement. However, there is limited information surrounding the film’s plot considering the game is a sandbox without a story where players can craft, build, and farm in a 3D world made of blocks. Jared Hess has been roped in to direct the feature film, which is scheduled to release on April 4, 2024.

'Deadpool 3' officially commences production

The highly anticipated third instalment of Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds, has finally begun filming. Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine from Fox’s X-Men franchise, while Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, and Stefan Kapičić will reprise their roles from the previous films. Shawn Levy replaces David Leitch as director, and the film is set for an 8th November 2024 release. The film will be the first 20th Century Fox film from the X-Men franchise to be released after Disney’s acquisition of the studio.

Rhea Seehorn cast in ‘Bad Boys 4’

Better Call Saul actress Rhea Seehorn has been cast alongside Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in Bad Boys 4. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Falla, who helmed the previous instalment Bad Boys For Life, will return as directors and the film will be based on a script by Chris Bremner. The two-time Emmy-nominated actress, Rhea Seahorn, joins the cast that already boasts Vanessa Hudgens, Paola Núnez, Ioan Gruffudd and Alexander Ludwig, among many others.

Indira Varma to return in the universe of 'Doctor Who'

Game of Thrones and Luther star Indira Varma has been cast in a new role in the iconic British series Doctor Who. The veteran actress previously appeared in the Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood in 2006. She will star in the upcoming season alongside Ncuti Gatwa, the Sex Education star who was cast as the new Doctor last year.

'Barbie' will draw inspiration from iconic musicals

Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated film, Barbie, is set to release on July 21 this year. However, the details surrounding the plot of the Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling film remain a mystery. New reports indicate the film could be inspired by iconic musicals. Lead star Robbie revealed in an interview with Vogue that the crew watched titles such as The Red Shoes and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg to prepare for the film. Robbie and Gosling are joined by a star-studded ensemble, and it's almost poetic that it releases on the same day as Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, another film featuring a stacked ensemble.
