Welcome to your daily dose of entertainment news on OTTplay , I'm your host Nikhil . Top stories first.

Nope star Keke Palmer cast along with Kevin Hart in romcom

Those who've watched last year's grossly underrated Jordan Peele directorial Nope would be familiar with the film's compelling lead Keke Palmer. The actress is now set to feature and produce a romcom called The Backup along with comedian and actor Kevin Hart. The Universal production revolves around a woman called Alyssa who gets engaged to a millionaire, without the knowledge that her best friend Ben is actually in love with her. When she invites Ben for her destination wedding, requesting him to be her best man, he has one last attempt to win her back before she gets hitched. We already know how this is going to play out but we're stoked nonetheless to see how it turns out.

Demi Lovato turns director for a documentary on child stars

She's been a pop sensation, an actor and now she's ready to wield the megaphone. We're talking about none other than Demi Lovato who recently announced that she would be directing a documentary on child stars who've been exposed to stardom at an early age and how it shapes their adult lives. The struggle of accepting the limelight and the pressure of retaining the stardom that child stars enjoy as minors has often been deliberated. And Hollywood is littered with case studies -- of those who've managed to fade into oblivion in their adult life and even those that have gone to become even more popular than they did as children. The names of those who will be featured in this documentary are yet to be revealed. But your guess is as good as ours. We're hoping the list of featured guests stretches from the likes of Miley Cyrus to Macaulay Culkin. May be even throw in a Drew Barrymore for good measure!

Nicholas Cage is back with suspense thriller titled Sympathy for this Devil this July

Nicholas Cage fans have specific expectations and demands from the 59-year-old actor. The obvious ones include seeing the actor slip into characters that find themselves in death-defying situations that call for inimitable nerve and talent to get out of. And Cage is back to give them just that. Expected to release in July this year, Cage’s next is a fast-paced thriller called Sympathy for this Devil. The films revolves around a man who is compelled at gunpoint to drive a certain passenger to a predefined location. The rest of the plot hasn’t been revealed yet and the film’s trailer is expected to drop soon. But we can easily guess that this one would be packed with a series of trying circumstances where Cage’s character will have to go beyond his abilities to accomplish the impossible. We already have our hands buried in a bowl of popcorn, so all we’ll say is, bring it on!

Sons of Anarchy star Theo Rossi joins the Collin Farrel series The Penguin

The Penguin has to be one of the most highly-awaited shows to release this year and we can’t wait to see this Batman villain wreak havoc on the small screen. The latest announcement about the series is that the makers have roped in Sons of Anarchy star Theo Rossi to join the cast which features Collin Farrel and How I Met Your Mother star Cristin Milioti. The series, as revealed by creator Matt Reeves in an earlier interview, will pick up the story from where the 2022 film The Batman starring Robert Pattinson ended. We just can’t wait for this Gotham grind to drop!
The Crown star Erin Doherty cast in a period drama about boxing

Fans of The Crown just couldn’t get enough of Princess Ann played by the inimitable Erin Doherty. Now the actress has been pulled in to feature in a Disney+ series called A Thousand Blows. The period drama which is being filmed in London is set in the 19th Century and depicts the illegal boxing matches which were held at the time. The series is headlined by British actor Malachi Kirby who won a BAFTA for his performance in Small Axe and revolves around two Jamaicans who forge a friendship when they find themselves in London’s East End and are pulled into the criminal underworld by unavoidable circumstances. We’re expecting this period drama to pack some fierce Victorian style gang wars, and hopefully, some mind blowing action, considering it’s a series that revolves around illegal boxing matches. One thing we’re certain about, this one’s not going to be about a gentleman’s sport.
