Drishyam to be remade in Korean

India’s Panorama Studios is set to team up with South Korea’s Anthology Studios to remake the Drishyam franchise in Korean. The Drishyam franchise released its first film in 2013 and was written and directed by Jeethu Joseph and was headlined by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. It has since been remade in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Sinhala. It was also remade into Mandarin titled Sheep Without A Shepherd in 2019.

Benedict Cumberbatch cast in Bob Dylan biopic

British actor Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast in the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic as American folk singer and activist Pete Seeger. The James Mangold-directorial stars Timothée Chalamet as a young version of Bob Dylan. The film is titled A Complete Unknown and also stars Elle Fanning and Monica Barbaro in pivotal roles.

Christopher Nolan confirms Oppenheimer is his longest film

Christopher Nolan’s highly-anticipated biopic on J. Robert Oppenheimer is set to be the British filmmaker’s longest-ever film. It is set to have a runtime just shy of three hours, which is slightly longer than Interstellar’s runtime of two hours and forty-nine minutes. Oppenheimer is set to release 21st July and features a star-studded ensemble headlined by Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy.

Thalapathy Vijay and Venkat Prabhu announce their next project

Tamil superstar Vijay has announced that he is set to team up with Venkat Prabhu on a new project. Prabhu will also be serving as writer for the film while the music will be composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Further details regarding the film have been kept under wraps.

Tovino Thomas’ 2018 on course to become highest-grossing Malayalam film

Latest Malayalam blockbuster 2018 starring Tovino Thomas and directed by Jude Anthany Joseph is on course to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. The disaster film based on true events has currently grossed nearly 130 crores and will comfortably overtake Mohanlal’s 2016 blockbuster Pulimurugan soon. The film has also raked in over 60 crores from the overseas market.

Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon lauded as filmmaker’s best ever

Martin Scorsese’s highly-anticipated period crime drama Killers of the Flower Moon has been lauded by critics at the Cannes Film Festival where it premiered as the auteur’s best film till date. The film features Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead and focuses on a spree of murders of the Osage Native American tribe after oil was discovered in Oklahoma.

Peter Bradshaw of the Guardian called it “an utterly absorbing film”, whereas David Rooney of the Hollywood Reporter described it as a “sordid illustration of historical erasure with echoes in today’s bitterly divisive political gamesmanship”, and the Rolling Stone magazine’s David Fear has labelled it a “masterpiece”.
