Emma Mackey leaves Netflix’s popular show Sex Education
Ncuti Gatwa made headlines after he revealed that he is leaving Netflix’s Sex Education. Unfortunately, another cast member is also leaving the show and it is none other than Emma Mackey, who plays the fan-favourite character Maeve. The twenty-seven-year-old actress revealed one of the most challenging aspects of filming the series is that she has started ageing out of this role where she plays a 17-year-old high school student.
Michael Kelly and Shohreh Aghdashloo among others join the cast of The Penguin Series
The upcoming HBO Max series, The Penguin is getting a star-studded ensemble. House of Cards star Michael Kelly and Oscar-nominated actor Shohreh Aghdashloo are the latest actors to join the cast. They are strangers to superhero films; Kelly had a major role in DCEU in the 2013's Superman film, Man of Steel, where he portrayed The Daily Planet reporter Steve Lombard and Aghdashloo appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand. Deirdre O’Connell from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind has also joined the cast, however, their roles are still undisclosed.
The spinoff series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is set to release in May
Before the premiere of the third season of Bridgerton, ardent fans will be gifted with the spin-off prequel series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. In the special Bridgerton Valentine's Day event, the creators announced that the show will premiere on Netflix on May 4, 2023, and also released the first trailer of the limited series. There was also a panel discussion which several cast members attended along with showrunner Shonda Rhimes. The upcoming series will follow the larger-than-life love story of Queen Charlotte and King George and the early days of Charlotte's reign as queen.
Teaser dropped for the third season of Ted Lasso
The teaser for the much-awaited third season of Ted Lasso is here. Apple TV+ just released the first image showing a tense moment between Ted Lasso and his former friend and protege Nate, along with the release date. The 12-episode third season is set to premiere on March 15th with new episodes dropping every Wednesday. The upcoming season will follow the newly promoted AFC Richmond as they return to the Premier League. They will be up against Nate who has started working with Rebecca's ex-Rupert at West Ham United.
MCU head Kevin Feige reveals details about several upcoming projects
Marvel is gearing up for several big releases such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Blade, and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The upcoming project Thunderbolts intrigued a lot of fans upon its announcement and it has triggered plenty of speculation surrounding the film and the future of the franchise. MCU president Kevin Feige sat down in a recent interview, cleared a few fan theories and confirmed Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes will lead the Anti-Hero Squad. This is big news since Bucky isn't a member of the team in many of the comic iterations. He also revealed that there is more in store for the Spiderman storyline although Jon Watts’ trilogy with Tom Holland as Spiderman is over. Nevertheless, it will not be part of Marvel Phases five or six.
Ishana Night Shyamalan is set to make her Directorial Debut
Ishana Night Shyamalan, the daughter of famed filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan is set to direct her first film. The twenty-two-year-old has already worked behind the camera helming episodes for the Apple TV+ series, Servant. She is now set to helm a feature film based on the A.M. Shine novel, the gothic horror titled The Watchers. It follows a young artist who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland and gets trapped with three strangers while mysterious creatures watch them. The film is set to premiere on June 7, 2024.
Naseeruddin Shah, Dharmendra and Aditi Rao Hydari are set to star in the Zee5 series Taj – Divided by Blood
Zee5 just announced the cast of their upcoming original series Taj – Divided by Blood. The series brings the glory of the Mughal Empire to the silver screen by focusing on the reign of King Akbar and his quest of finding a worthy successor. Veteran actors Dharmendra and Naseeruddin Shah will join the cast along with Aditi Rao Hydari as Sheikh Salim Christi, King Akbar, and Anarkali. The series will be helmed by Ronald Scalpello and William Borthwick, with Simon Fantauzzo joining as the writer.
