Ishana Shyamalan's debut horror film ‘The Watchers’ unveils trailer and updated release date

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the official teaser trailer for The Watchers, the highly anticipated horror debut from director Ishana Shyamalan. Originally scheduled for June 7, 2024, the release date has been moved to Father's Day weekend, June 14, 2024. Starring Dakota Fanning as Mina, the film unfolds in the Western Irish countryside, where Mina seeks refuge in a concrete bunker, only to discover she is not alone. Trapped alongside three strangers, they find themselves under mysterious nightly observation by unearthly creatures. Ishana Shyamalan, daughter of renowned filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, makes her directorial debut with The Watchers filmed in Dublin, Wicklow, and Galway.

Netflix ventures into medical drama with Pulse starring Justina Machado

Netflix has greenlit its first medical procedural, Pulse, as it ventures into the realm of medical dramas to rival ABC's popular series, Grey's Anatomy. Set in a Level 1 Trauma Centre in Miami, the show revolves around Dani Simms, played by Justina Machado, who unexpectedly becomes chief resident amid a tumultuous romantic relationship. Machado's character, Natalie Cruz, serves as both a doctor and the Chair of Surgery and Emergency Medicine. Machado is widely recognised for her role as Penelope Alvarez in Netflix's modern-day reboot of One Day at a Time. Pulse is helmed by Zoe Robyn, known for her work on The Equalizer, and executive produced by Carlton Cuse, renowned for Lost and Locke & Key. While there is no confirmed release date yet, anticipation builds for Netflix's inaugural medical procedural.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 takes a grisly turn in limited theatrical run

Fathom Events is set to unleash the horror sequel Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 in theatres for a brief three-day stint starting March 26. Following the success of its predecessor, the sequel promises to captivate audiences with its gruesome thrills. Directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the film explores the darker side of the beloved characters from the Hundred Acre Wood. Netflix has released the first look teaser for the sequel to the popular romantic thriller Haseen Dillruba, titled Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba. Starring Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey, and introducing Sunny Kaushal, the film promises another intriguing tale of love, deception, and pulp. The story revolves around Rani, portrayed by Pannu, a paying guest in Agra, and Rishu, played by Massey, living under the alias Ravi Varma. As the city faces various challenges, the duo attempts to plan their escape for a happily ever after. This time, a new character essayed by Sunny Kaushal is introduced, adding to the suspense. Netflix shared the teaser on social media, signalling the continuation of the gripping saga.

YRF unveils riveting lineup in collaboration with Netflix: ‘Maharaj,’ ‘Mandala Murders,’  and ‘Vijay 69’

Netflix India's 2024 offerings take an intriguing turn with the announcement of three compelling projects from the esteemed Yash Raj Films (YRF) banner. Among them, Maharaj, a historical drama set in the 1800s, follows the gripping tale of a journalist challenging a powerful societal figure, promising a journey into resilience and societal change. Mandala Murders, a web series, introduces Detectives Rea Thomas and Vikram Singh entangled in a sinister plan orchestrated by a century-old secret society, offering a genre-bending crime thriller experience. On a lighter note, Vijay 69, a heartwarming comedy starring Anupam Kher, narrates the inspiring story of a 69-year-old man's quest to compete in a triathlon. With diverse narratives spanning historical drama, crime thrills, and heartening comedy, YRF and Netflix aim to captivate a global audience with their rich storytelling tapestry.

James Gunn's superman movie commences filming with a new title: ‘Superman’

James Gunn has officially commenced filming for his highly anticipated Superman movie, marking the initiation of the revamped DC Universe. Previously titled Superman: Legacy, Gunn disclosed the updated title as simply Superman. The director expressed his joy in an Instagram post, coincidentally aligning with Superman's birthday. Starring David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, the cast includes Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and an ensemble featuring Skyler Gisondo, Anthony Carrigan, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillon, Isabela Mercad, and more. Gunn, who is the new co-head of DC Films is known for his work on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Superman is slated for release on July 11, 2025, promising a fresh take on the iconic superhero saga.
