Jyotika to make her Bollywood comeback after 25 years
Tamil actress Jyotika is set to make her Bollywood comeback, nearly 25 years after she made her feature film debut in Priyadarshan’s 1998 hit Doli Saja Ke Rakhna. The veteran star is set to star alongside Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan in Queen director Vikas Bahl’s supernatural thriller. The currently untitled film will commence production in June and will be shot in Mumbai, Mussoorie, and London. Now, here’s a comeback we’re stoked about.
Ranveer Singh’s 83 to receive a special screening at Lords
Ranveer Singh’s sports film 83, based on the heroic performance by the Indian cricket team at the 1983 World Cup, may not have impressed at the box office when it released, following multiple setbacks due to the pandemic. But it appears the film is now set to be bestowed with a unique honour later this year. The inspiring tale of how the underdog Indian cricket team overcame the mighty West Indies team at the 83’ World Cup is set to be screened at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London, which is revered as the most prestigious cricketing venue in the world. It also makes it a relevant space as it is here that Kapil Dev and his men lifted the World Cup, marking India’s first historic win in the international contest. The screenings will be held on July 15th and 16th.
Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal’s next revealed
The highly-anticipated Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal film has finally got a title. The romantic comedy has been titled Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and the news was shared by leading stars on their social media handles. They also announced that the film’s first trailer will be released on the 16th of May, and the Laxman Utekar directorial will release theatrically on June 2nd.
Dulquer Salmaan to star in new Telugu film
Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan has signed a deal to star in a new Telugu film. The currently untitled project will have Salmaan share the screen with Venky Atluri, who recently starred alongside Dhanush in the Tamil film Vaathi. Salmaan’s last Telugu film was Sita Ramam, the critically-acclaimed period romantic drama, where he starred in the lead alongside Mrunal Thakur and Rashmika Mandanna.
Nicholas Hoult among the favourites to play Superman in James Gunn’s reboot
British actor Nicholas Hoult, best known for Warm Bodies, The Menu, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Mad Max: Fury Road, is among the frontrunners to play Clark Kent aka Superman in James Gunn’s upcoming film Superman: Legacy. He is also being considered for the role of Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luthor. Pearl star David Corenswet is also reportedly being considered to play the Man of Steel. There are also reports emerging that Sex Education star Emma Mackey, the Emmy Award-winning lead star of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Rachel Brosnahan, Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor, and Scream VI actress Samara Weaving have been shortlisted to play Superman’s love interest and ace reporter Lois Lane.
Puri Jagannadh announces new pan India film
After Liger bombed at the box office despite much hype and anticipation, director Puri Jagannadh is keen to move on from the debacle and has his eyes set on a new project. He is set to team up with Ram Pothineni for the sequel to the 2019 romantic action drama Ismart Shankar. Titled Double Ismart, the film is set for March 8, 2024 release. Further details have not been revealed and it remains to be seen if Nidhhi Agerwal and Nabha Natesh will reprise their roles for the sequel.
